Frequently Asked Questions
How can Saint-Gobain's flow meters be used in medical devices applications?

The medical devices industry encompasses a wide range of critical applications where precise flow measurement and control play a pivotal role. For instance, consider dialysis systems that require rapid and efficient cleaning after each operation. Similarly, applications involving the processing of bodily fluids—such as urine, blood, and plasma—demand meticulous attention to avoiding contamination and infection.

At Saint-Gobain, our flow meters serve as essential components in medical device production processes. Whether it is dosing or filling liquids in ampoules or bottles, our reliable flow measurement solutions meet the stringent requirements set by the industry. Our disposable and single-use flow meters facilitate easy exchange of wetted parts, preventing cross-contamination and ensuring process integrity.

What can Saint-Gobain turbine flow meters measure?

Our turbine flow meters are designed for measuring low-viscosity liquids. The recommended flow range, temperatures and pressure limits are specified on the respective product pages. If you have specific process conditions, feel free to reach out to our engineers for personalized support.

What can the flow meter measure?

The flow meters are designed to measure low viscosity liquids. On the respective product pages, you can find the recommended flow range, temperatures, and pressures. If you need personal assistance to ensure compatibility with your specific process conditions, feel free to contact our engineers.

Can the turbine flow meters of Saint-Gobain measure gasses?

Our flow meters are tested with liquids, when using gasses, we therefore cannot make any claims with respect to accuracy and longevity.

Can Saint-Gobain turbine flow meters measure chemicals and/or corrosive liquids?

Absolutely! Thanks to the use of fluoropolymers (PVDF and PFA) the flow meters have excellent chemical resistance. They are well-suited for handling corrosive liquids.

Can opaque and/or colored liquids be measured by Saint-Gobain turbine flow meters?

The reflection measurement principle employed by our flow meters allows accurate measurement of both opaque and colored liquids. In cases where a white opaque liquid is used, we can provide a flow meter with a black turbine for optimal performance.

Can liquids with particles cause issues in use with Saint-Gobain turbine flow meters?

To ensure trouble-free operation, we recommend using an in-line filter before the flow meter. The recommended pore sizes range from 100 to 250 microns, depending on the flow meter model that is used. Particles that can pass through these pores pose no problem for our flow meters.

Turbine flow meters technical specifications

How repeatable are the measurements?

The repeatability of measurements is 99.85%.

How accurate are the measurements?

Achieving accuracies of 1%, our devices provide reliable measurements.

What flow range can I measure using Saint-Gobain Flow Meters?

We have four different sizes available that cover flows from 20 mL/min up to 200 L/min.

Shop flow meters that cover the following flow ranges:

0.02 – 4.5 L/min
0.5 – 25.0 L/min
1.5 – 40.0 L/min
3.0 – 200.0 L/min

Are the flow meters gamma stable?

Yes, our PVDF disposable flow tubes can withstand sterilization with a gamma radiation dose of up to 50 kGy.
